ROLEX Precision 9ct Gold Gents Watch. Vintage 1968

This beautifully elegant ROLEX gents watch features a 34mm 9ct gold case with ornate bezel and lugs, made by renowned casemaker David Shackman & Sons who produced gold cases for Rolex (& other prestigious watch makers) up to the 1970’s.

The champagne dial is original / unrestored and in very good condition, is signed ‘ROLEX’, ‘PRECISION’ & ‘SWISS’, has a radial pattern with gilt baton style indexes, gilt hands and Rolex crown at 12. The winding crown is original, signed with the ROLEX insignia, on the inside of the case-back the watch is stamped ‘DS & S’ and hallmarked to indicate it was produced in 1968

The watch is presented on a lightly worn black lizard leather strap fixed to the original ROLEX gold plated buckle, the buckle does have some small chips to the gold plate, visible on the photos. The watch comes in a period non-Rolex jewellers watch box.

Inside the fabulous gold case beats the Rolex cal. 1225, an accurate and reliable in-house manual winding movement. Also used in many of their Oysterdate Precision models it was introduced in 1954 and features a frequency of 21,600 beats per hour (A/h), 17 jewels and a power reserve of 58 hours.
