Two of the big developments in watchmaking during the 20th century were automatic winding movements and chronographs, though it wasn't until 1969 that you could have both in one watch. Breitling worked with movement manufacturer Dubois and fellow watchmakers Heuer & Buren to develop the technology, eventually launching a series of watches that combined Chronograph & Automatic to be named - 'Chrono-Matic' they were released as modernist variations on the Navitimer and the Top Time, further cementing Breitling's reputation as a forward looking brand.

Back in 2006 Breitling re-released the classic Chrono-matic design, with the winding crown on the left and chronograph pushers on the right of the case which made it faithful to the original. It was replaced later by the larger 49mm version with crown moved to the right of the case. The wearable case size, traditional pusher/ crown configuration and short production run have made this a desirable reference for collectors and Breitling fans.

This particular watch is in excellent all round condition, there are very minor signs of wear, the crystal is clear and there are no significant scratches or dings. The polished stainless steel case is fixed to a similarly polished steel bracelet & clasp.

The watch comes as part of a full set with all boxes and paperwork including warranty booklet dated 2009, COSC certification, manual, slide rule instructions and original sales receipt for full provenience. The outer card & bakelite box are in excellent condition, the 'pleather' inner box and cushion have a small amount of flaking which is unfortunately a problem with Breitling/ Omega boxes of this era.
